ZTE has introduced in the MWC at Barcelona the ZTE Grand S3, its new flagship that although may not be the most groundbreaking in terms of hardware phone, provides an interesting feature and the less curious result: This phone includes a eye scanner for unlocking, the first phone in the world that has this function.
ZTE knows that the specs of this new smartphone are similar to the one launched back in 2014, even so, has decided to keep the main specs but adding a differentiating factor on ZTE Grand S3: an eye scanner. This technology is developed by EyeVerify and can be used to unlock the phone to authorize payments or secure content. And although this feature is not as fast as using our fingerprint if it is rather safe, or so they claim, as we scan the two eyes.
Although on paper it’s a very interesting feature is the fact that, because this scan is done with the front camera, we can not use the ocular scanning in low light, something that certainly takes away quite attractive. Despite this, ZTE has said it will integrate this technology in other terminals have to see if finds a way to perform this scan in low light aid of a flash or screen.
ZTE Grand S3 will be available for 430€, but the price seems to be a bit high when compared with other smartphones in the range of 300€, however, we have to wait and see the performance of the device because sometimes even though the hardware is not the last of the ultimate experience that can offer a device can justify a higher price.
The ZTE Grand S3 is already availablet in China, but nobody knows when will be whether the phone will be sold in the rest of the globe.
What do you expect from a smartphone with eye recognition technology, it will be usefull or just a fancy thing?
