Today I bring to you the uTorrent review, one of the most popular programs that exist for downloading torrents. In 2006 uTorrent was bought by — the once rival — BitTorrent, with this partnership the company started ruling over downloading files through torrent.
This program known and used by many of us in our computers, allow us to download through torrent anywhere — we only need an Android device and an Internet connection. BitTorrent has managed to make one of the most important file sharing software’s for Windows and Mac into a light, quick and easy app for our smartphones.
This app made possible the download of films, series, documentaries, etc. anywhere with an Internet connection. Imagine that you’re at a family member or at a friend’s house and you want to see a movie when you get home. Without the app you can only download the film when you arrive home, thus losing some time with this task. With the aid of this app you can do it at your family member or friend’s house, and as soon as you get home you’ll already have the film available in your Android device. The same applies to any type of file you can imagine — anywhere with Wi-Fi or mobile data (having always in mind that some of the available download files can easily reach the limit of some tariffs.
The way this app runs is quite simple and similar to uTorrent for a computer. To start downloading a file at our choosing we just need to go to the device’s search engine and search for its torrent or magnet link. After clicking one of those options the app is booted and we can choose where we want to store the file on our device, after choosing, the download starts automatically.
In the settings menu we can find some options that improve this app efficiency, such as: the possibility to only download when the device is connected to the Internet by Wi-Fi; It’s also a possibility to limit the download and upload velocity, in a way to save some of the device’s battery and maintain performance.
Without a doubt that the simplicity of this app is a plus, in the way it doesn’t have a great impact in our device’s performance, however, comparing with the computer version, some options could be added, such as the possibility of turning the app off when the download finish, this way saving battery.
Performance wise no alteration was noted except in the device’s battery level. In just 30 minutes, 12% of the battery was consumed, which in some cases can be a problem.
Without a doubt it’s an excellent app, mainly for whom already uses uTorrent on the computer. With this app — which is indispensable to many of us — we see ourselves less forced to use a computer to download, for example a film. Simple, easy to use and great download speed, you wouldn’t expect anything else from the uTorrent app. I advise those who already use this program on a computer to try another app from uTorrent called uTorrent Remote, as the name indicates it allow us to have access to the uTorrent installed on our computer through our Android device.
