Qualcomm as the top chimakeer source of most OEMs these days, introduce a new family of the Snapdragon SOC – the Snapdragon 617 and the Snapdragon 430.
The 2 new family members are expected to offer impressive performance in mid-range and affordable smartphones. Before the year ends, most mid-tier Android devices will have the new 617 running. This one is close enough to the S618 and S620.
The new processor will boast of Cat 7 300 Mbps download speed and 100 Mbps upload speed, X8 LTE support, 2x20MHz carrier aggregation, dual-ISPs, and a maximum of 1.5GHz octa-core configuration of Cortex A53s. Not mentioning about GTS applications here.
The other processor, the Snapdragon 430, will come later in devices due in 2016. This one will include the new Qualcomm Adreno 505 and support for superior gaming and high-end camera. The chip is also expected to support a few things like 1080p Full HD graphics, 2x10MHz carrier aggregation, X6 LTE with Cat 4 download (max of 150 Mbps), Cat 5 uplink (75 Mbps), and up to 21MP photo capture.
The latest Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 will also be supported by the Snapdragon 430 and 617. The two will use a low power Qualcomm Hexagon DSP to allow low power sensor and audio.
Both Snapdragon processors promise enhanced efficiency, faster speed, and more stunning graphics than ever. Hopefully, no overheating issue will be reported.
