While we are still owning and discussing a smartphone with battery varies from 1,800 mAh to 3,500 mAh, this Chinese company wants to go far beyond that. Doogee with its latest smartphone, the HomTom HT6 brings a new level of battery capacity to 6,250 mAh. This insanely huge capacity battery can be put inside 5.5 inch form factor and that’s just 9.9mm thin. Unbelievable! Engineering geniuses or is that spec claim little fishy? Tough to say at this moment but that’s what they are advertising now.
The name Homtom comes from the Chinese name of “Heng Tong” that in turn roughly means an “eternal connection” quite an apt name for a brand that will specialise in large batter smartphones.
Weird name, gigantic battery aside, the phone does boast decent looks (alloy-based chassis) and very passable specs. It has 720p (1280×720) resolution on the display with 13 megapixels Sony camera at the back and a 5 megapixels camera for selfies. MediaTek’s quad-core MT6735 will run the phones together with Android 5.1 Lollipop with a custom skin.
That huge battery would be a nightmare to charge under standard conditions, but fortunately the HT6 comes with Mediatek’s PumpExpress Plus fast charging system (another feature lacking on the OP2) which will reportedly charge the 6250mAh battery to %75 capacity in only 30 minutes!
HomTom HT6 is set to launch this September, no pricing information could be offered up at this time.
