Samsung , the powerful and very known smartphone company, has their own, the Super AMOLED displays. With its first appearance on the Galaxy S , but the display had a big power consumption , because theoretically the display had an infinite constrast ratio, thing that no other LCD panels had.
AnandTech has made a series of tests on the Super AMOLED to test the power efficiency on the Samsung smartphones, and according to the test , Samsung has been improving their displays every year.
As the table shows , the Galaxy S4 was the worst with 3.41 mW/cd/cm², while the Galaxy S6 stayed at the top with 2.21 mW/cd/cm².
The author of the test, AnandTech, says that Samsung still needs to improve power consumption and efficiency around 15 to 20% to surpass the LCD displays.
