The latest THING in the gadgets world is “wearable technology”. Smartwatches are quickly grabbing the attention of the buyers. But, let’s face it, the design of the smartwatches vary widely and most of them… well, does not look or feel premium.
Luxury Swiss watchmaker TAG Heuer could soon have something more your style… but provided you are willing to pay for it. The new smartwatch is being developed in collaboration with Intel and Google and today the company has gone full steam with the hype machine, teasing the watch on social media where they say they will introduce “the next step in innovation.” They even have a new countdown site with a quote that reads:
“TAG Heuer is pushing the Swiss avant-garde limits even further with the TAG Heuer Connected. Tradition meets innovation, craftsmanship meets savoir-faire, and bold style meets breakthrough technology. The clock is ticking to the major breakthrough.”
The “connected” watch will be officially unveiled November 9th, 2015 in New York and although TAG Heuer isn’t talking price at the moment, CEO Jean-Claude Biver may have let it slip to CNBC that the watch should retail for around $1,800. If that sounds steep, Wearable reports that the watch will be upgradeable, meaning you won’t have to worry about it becoming obsolete over time (an argument made against smartwatches vs traditional watches).
So will the watch live up to it’s price and expectations ? What’s your opinion ? Let us know through your comments.
