Sleep as Android is a smart alarm clock capable of register our sleep and waking us up in a very gentle way, as we all like it. Following up recent apps that aim for the well-being of the user, this one also tries to improve your sleep, and consequently, your well-being. It differs in a lot of ways from the conventional alarm clock, unlike the latter that only wake us up in a pre-selected hour chosen by the user, Sleep as Android has the ability of waking us up in the right moment according to the assessed readings throughout sleep, without disrupting it when in its fullest (deep sleep).
After downloading it on the Play Store, we just have to start the app, since this one is immediately connected to the user’s account, afterwards, enjoy it. Apart from exploring the app in a smartphone, we can also synchronize it with a SmartWatch or share our information on Twitter or Facebook.
To start using the app we just have to choose between nap or ideal sleep duration, place the mobile phone charging, so there’s no danger of this one turning of before the awaking; we should place the smartphone beside us in bed in a stable area, start the alarm clock and it’s ready to perform its functions. The app creators suggest to turn of the Wi-Fi while it tracks your sleep. There’s also some interesting options to explore, such as: the alarm clock ringtones, sleep backup, noise recording throughout the sleep and temperature control amongst others.
This app is really useful for those people who would like to know their sleep quality, or, for example, if they snore, since there’s the possibility to record every noise that goes beyond a value set by the user. The presentation is made in a chart/statistics, which makes the analysis enlightening and easy to understand (as seen in the pictures).
The app occupies a bit more than 15 MB on the mobile’s memory and its performance it’s quite fluid. Regarding the battery, this app consumes a lot of energy from the equipment, which is perfectly understandable, since the app functions all night long.
After testing the app, I deemed it very interesting and functional, I tested the recording efficiency which proved itself very effective, because in the following morning I could check every moment in which there was noise in the room. As a downside I would like to refer the fact that the available version is a paid one, with a trial period of 15 days such as some of its upgrades, for example SleepCloud Backup (Sleep Backup) and Sleep Lullaby Add-on (lullaby songs). Yet it’s a rewarding experience, which I strongly recommend, because the information offered by the app is really important, if, for example, you have little time to sleep and you wish to maximize you sleep quality.
