On this review I bring to you an application that can be very useful to keep up in real time with the Tour de France of the current year. Through this app we can access every news about the world’s biggest cycling competition, from videos of the best moments, by stage and general rankings, maps, exclusive contents, photos of each stage and the best are the stream broadcasts trough France Télévision. A key app for the cycling lovers. This application is of French creation, from the organisation Amaury Sport Organization.
Since I first learn about the application, I easily searched for it on Google Play Store and download and installed it. I didn’t need any sort of login, and we are quickly ready to see updates on the iconic international cycling race. I remind you that to be able to use this application, you need the Android SO version equal or superior to the 4.0.
The functioning couldn’t be easier and intuitive! By booting this app we see an interface with every available options, which are:
- Stage Summary;
- Teams, e;
Briefly, on the first option we have the possibility to see the race’s characteristics, status and updates.
On the second option we can see the by stage and general rankings; on the third option we can access exclusive multimedia contents, such as the main moments in videos and photographs.
Lastly, we can consult the routes of each stage with pole position through live GPS.
All of this can be consulted and much more until the end of the race, July 27th. It’s extremely useful even outside of your home, a cycling lover can consult every important information about the race on his smartphone or tablet, and only needs an internet connection.
I point out that besides being a light app, performance wise, this app has an excellent behaviour, due to its contents being supported with an internet connection (only occupies 11MB of memory on your smartphone). We can also count with an application which behaviour is very fluid and a reduced battery consumption (to our always tiny battery capacity).
In conclusion, it’s important to refer that this initiative has shown itself as an example to other sports, where similar programming applications could be adapted, however, the investments on others sports doesn’t come close, not by a long shot to the Tour. I didn’t find downsides, just the need to be permanently online, however, you couldn’t have it any other way, because that’s the only way to have real time content. Try it and see the Tour de France live.
One last note that consists in an encouragement word and a thank you to all our countryman that are participating on the Tour.
