With the project Ara the era of devices made with modules has just started. There are several possibility to made just one device, customized to our personal style and needs. And with this it’s easier to keep up with the latest and greatest developments in smartphone tech as only particular modules need to be replaced.
The new patent application from Samsung reveals that company has identified another use for modules, making a flexible smartphone.
Flexibility has been a key focal point of innovation in the smartphone industry lately. This new Samsung smartphone patent not only it’s flexible but also wants to become a choice for active users.
The concept relies on a set of discrete elements that will be able to move relative to one another thus forming a curvature. That both a convex and concave curvatures will be possible. And if you are thinking of how Samsung will design the battery, well its cells will be distributed among multiple sections.
With the design of the modules and hinges, it may be possible for such a phone to be clipped onto clothing without the need for a case or band.
It takes a lot of time to pass from the patent to an actual device, so don’t get your hopes up just yet.
