The IMX300 camera sensor is used on Sony’s Xperia Z5 and apparently it caught Samsung’s eye, has the sensor is being critically acclaimed. One of the top entities for component analysis, DxOMark, gives some of the highest scores to the IMX300, and even say it’s the best they’ve ever tested. Many of the specifications on this unit are not really interesting for the average consumer, but for highlights, the camera has 25 megapixels and a 192 point hybrid autofocus system, great for one of the strong points for the Z5, a focusing time of 0.03 seconds.
Sony planned to keep this trump exclusively for the Xperia line, but Samsung is interested in it for their Galaxy S7 and can strike a hard bargain to get this camera sensor. The S7 is rumored to be launching next January. This can be a good thing for Sony, since the rival’s Galaxy S7 is expected to sell millions of units.
