Yesterday on the 4th of September Samsung presented the Galaxy Gear, a device that claims to be the perfect companion that enables the user to join their daily life with the Galaxy experience. The Gear combines connectivity of a smart device, custom developed technological resources and an elegant design all in one device.
The Samsung Gear frees the users from having to constantly check their tablets or smartphones since it keeps the connections open so the users can stay updated.
This new device allows the users to live in the moment while staying connected to their Galaxy devices. It notifies the users about received messages, missed calls, written texts, emails and alerts, offering a preview of these messages and allows the users to accept or reject them in a discrete way. Just in case the received message needs more than a preview, the user can simply grab his Galaxy device and use the Smart Relay feature to show all the contents of the message instantaneously.
The Samsung Gear has a built in speaker that allows the users to make calls in hands free mode directly from the Gear while keeping the connections open without interrupting their daily routine. For instance, if you are walking out of the supermarket with your hands full of grocery bags you can still make a call without having to touch the screen of the Gear, all you need to do is speak to it and thanks to the S Voice features you can also speak messages to the Gear, create new entries in your calendar, amongst many other options.

Besides offering controls that we relate only to smart devices the Samsung Galaxy Gear also has features that allow the user to record those significant moments. Through Memographer, a 1.9MP camera, takes pictures and records moments when users need it the most and share those moments in social networks. Taking quick recording to the next level is what Voice Memo does, allowing the users to register new ideas or important conversations directly from their wrist and then save the recordings to their Galaxy devices.
Samsung Gear brings other helpful features to the table such as Auto Lock, which automatically locks the screen of the smartphone currently paired every time the devices separate themselves over 1.5 meters. Then there’s Find My Device, which we already mentioned in the preview of the Note 3 yesterday. The Gear also allows the user to control the music currently reproduced in their Galaxy devices. Last but not least the Gear also serves as a pedometer, which will help you keep track of your daily efforts, like burnt calories, number of steps and the distance traveled during each day.
Since the Gear was made taking into account the concept of wearable technology Samsung made it a fashionable and well design device. The Gear is very comfortable to wear and there are 10 different options so that anyone can buy one that suits the users personality and fashion statement. There will be 6 colors available: Jet Black, Mocha Gray, Wild Orange, Oatmeal Beige, Rose Gold and Lime Green. The availability of each color may vary according to the markets.
The Samsung Galaxy Gear will start hitting stores around the world on the 25th of September, the same as the Note 3 and will be available in over 140 countries world wide.
