The Samsung Galaxy A8 has been on the news in the last days.
Until now, we already had live images, certifications with specs and even a hands-on video. After all these informations we know that this will be a 5.7-inch metal phablet with only 5.9mm thick, making this the thinnest Samsung smartphone to date.
However, the Galaxy A8 promise a 16MP camera, which could be a problem as the 16MP Sony IMX240 and the Samsung ISOCELL sensors, used in the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge are too thick to fit inside the small space.
Acordign to some sources, the Galaxy A8 will use an ISOCELL sensor, but a slightly downgraded one. The new module, model number LSI3P3, has a reduced pixel size of 1.0 µm. This makes it a whole 23% thinner with the perfect size to fit inside the Galaxy A8. This modification will have its consequences on camera quality, but we can’t really be certain exactly how damaging the sensor reduction has been.
Judging by the rumors that are intensifying by the day, we can only expect to see an official announcement of the Galaxy A8 pretty soon.
