Rovio reinforced its presence in China with a strategic partnership with Kunlun, one of the biggest and more importants brands in the chinese games industry. The partnership means that Rovio and Kunlun will collaborate exclusively on the Angry Birds game release, developed specifically for the Chinese market.
“China is a massively important market and the mobile games industry is growing at a very significant pace. The Angry Birds brand is extremely strong in China. Angry Birds has been downloaded close to half a billion times in China” said Pekka Rantala, CEO of Rovio, “forming a strategic partnership with Kunlun is an important step that helps Rovio establish an even stronger presence in China’s game market with localized content”
And According to Yahui Zhou, Kunlun CEO:
“I am one of the billions of Angry Birds fans around the world. We are delighted to work with Rovio. Working with Rovio will allow us to increase the reach of our games.”
Kunlun had the Initial Public Offer a few weeks ago and will develope these games with Rovio. This is the first time that Rovio works with a chinese partner to develope games based on Angry Birds brand to the chinese market..
