The smartwatches with Android Wear are highly dependent of a smartphone via Bluetooth connection. But if we do not have our smartphone close to us, many features of our smartwatch are unusable. However, some of these devices are also equipped with Wi-Fi connectivity.
With Wi-Fi connectivity, our smartphone and our smartwatch stay connected for even longer, even though they are separated by a great distance, if they are both connected to the Internet. If we let our smartphone at home and only realize it at work, not only it will continue to receive our notifications, and we can also use all the voice commands, Google Now and send messages with WhatsApp, for example.
To check if your smartwatch has this connectivity just go to settings and see if there is support for Wi-Fi. If this support exists, it is also necessary to ensure that Wi-Fi is in Auto mode.
Once verified that your smartwatch has Wi-Fi and is in automatic mode, open the application Android Wear. In this application, open the settings, then privacy and then the personal data. In this menu, find the synchronization in the cloud, it should be activated.
Then the smartwatch will synchronize all passwords for Wi-Fi networks that we have in our smartphone and thus can connect to all networks to maintain synchronization. Do not forget that the connectivity via Wi-Fi is not as fast as it is done via Bluetooth, so it may take a few seconds longer than usual to receive your notifications.
