Android smartphones were always know by the public as a cheaper operative system than the Apple OS, because of its open code and the market it’s substantially different.
Last year the price of an iPhone on the Q1 increased from 524€ to 600€ on the Q4, while the price of a mid-range Android declined from 305€ to 222€.
This price change is mainlly due to the introduction of the new Apple model, the iPhone 6 Plus, that it’s in a superior price range, between the 655€ and the 830€, although the iPhone 6 don’t have very atractive prices, with starting values of 567€, and the one with better specifications can reach the 742€. The price drop in Android equipments é manily due to the Android One and Motorola, that have reach the market with prices between 87€ and 175€.
Another aspect to favor the Android ecosystem are the chinese equipments that have advance hardware with very good prices. Xiaomi it’s leading the low-range smartphone market in China, with prices around 87€.
The Apple strategy it’s collect clients in developed countries and the Android strategy it’s doing it in emerging markets, is the cause of Apple have reached record sales last year, while Android dropped, although it wasn’t a significant one.
Being this market very volatile, and Android it’s already out there for a while, the incomes are very important in technology world and this Android strategy could bring high expenses to the company.
