HTC with its past two flagships has placed major focus on camera tech. With the M7 (the original One), HTC brought an UltraPixel camera to the game and that offered an higher low-light performance. Then the M8 (the One of this year) brought the Duo Camera, an UltraPixel camera and a secondary camera that gives depth information and it can be used in many different features (blur, filters).
Now, Symon Whitehorn, HTC’s imaging expert, has revealed to Vodafone U.K. that his company will release a smartphone with an optical zoom lens in the near future. “Optical zooming in a smartphone is not too far off at all for HTC,” Whitehorn teased. “I can’t give too much away, but within 12-18 months we’ll see huge advances in phone optics.”
