OnePlus, a company that may or may not be well recognized by you, just released their first Smartphone, the OnePlus One, the “2014 flagship killer”.
Many of us were excited with the news that we heard on the past few months and now, I see the phone that could revolutionize the world of mobile. But let us first talk about this phone and what it brings.

A simple design with all the specs
When we look at the One we instantly see resemblances to Oppo’s smartphones (Find 7a for example), it has a simple, yet beautiful, body construction, composed by magnesium weighting about 162g but with a back cover that is swappable . This back cover will be available in different material choices in the near future, for now, the 16GB version of this phone comes with a plastic silk white back cover when the 64GB will become with a sandstone black back cover. It’s important to say that the 16GB is different from the 64GB because around the phone it’s white and black, respectively.

In terms of the design that’s not much to talk about, it’s simple, but when we look to what this phone brings under the hood it’s impressive!
The specifications of this phone were already known officially but for those who don’t know yet, or simply because you want to be reminded, here they are:
- 5.5-inch Full HD LTPS IPS with TOL display;
- Snapdragon 801 SoC (quad-core 2.5GHz CPU and Adreno 330 578MHz GPU);
- 3GB of RAM;
- 16GB/64GB of internal storage;
- 13MP/rear/front cameras;
- 3100mAh battery;
- GSM and LTE connectivity.
For the full list see here.
The user can choose if he wants to use capacitive buttons or software buttons and for what I’ve seen this feature really works well.

This phone comes with CyanogenMod 11S OS based on Android 4.4 KitKat. CM 11S it’s specially designed to this phone to take advantage of all the features of this smartphone. You have the choice to keep it simple with a stock-like feel and look or you could customize it with themes and other features.
Pricing and availability
As you can see, this device brings the latest specs available on the market (or almost of them). But until now this phone looks like all other flagship devices so, what’s different? The price!
Rumors suggested that this phone would be cheap (for what it would bring) and that’s what has been confirmed when the OnePlus One was officially announced. The price of the 16GB and 64GB versions is $299/£229/€269 and $349/£269/€299, respectively. This is amazing! This phone is cheaper than any other flagship device and yes, the Nexus 5 included. In some countries, the 64GB version it’s cheaper than the 16GB version of the Nexus 5 (others are the same price).
But what countries will have this phone at sale? The lucky winners are Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, United Kingdom, and the United States. The phone it’s expected to start selling in late May. Also the phone it’s unlocked and SIM-free.
But there is a problem, for now this phone will only be available to those who have an invite. This invites will be available to some people who can then send their friends a limited number of invites. It’s also available in some contests and giveaways so if you want one you will need an invite or you need to wait a bit.
The smartphone that will change the world
Well this thought might be a little too much but when you look at the phone, all the features, all of those specs and THAT PRICE…I think if the demand, availability and the invite system works well, this phone will crush completely the completion that will force them to change the actual model of pricing and in the near future we will see better phones with a better (cheaper) price. LET US ALL HOPE FOR THAT.
