Blackberry just confirmed the rumors about the new device called Priv, although specs or price aren’t available yet, we can count on a 18 megapixel camera, a curved screen (similar to Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge) and, the trademark of the company, a QWERTY keyboard. John Chen, Blackberry’s CEO, said that the smartphone “combines the best of BlackBerry security and productivity with the expansive mobile application ecosystem available on the Android platform.” It’s said to be release still this yeah, so new information should surface in the coming weeks.
Although the company has been declining in earnings, Blackberry is hoping this new phone to be a hit, and much is depending on the success of the new device. The company’s revenue for the quarter ending in August wasn’t as expected, as it just hit $490 million, a little more than half of what it was this time in 2014. Despise that, it still managed to purchase Good Technology earlier this month for $425 million. As the numbers are not as desired, there’s a lot of pressure for the new Priv to be a hit, we’ll have to wait for the release to see if it delivers.
