It was recently shared on the Internet the contract signed between Spotify and Sony Music. The same reveals that the publisher has received something like 42 and a half million dollars, 38 million euros for the availability of its catalog in streaming platform.
However, the contract does not specify what is the fate of this same money. According to a source close to the music industry, told the website The Verge, which reported the leak of that contract, the publishers “keep these advances for themselves, routinely”.
Also stipulated in the contract is a clause stating that any agreement that Spotify has with another publisher must be equivalent to that made with Sony Music, which ensures that it receives no less than other publishers in the royalties concerns
However, it is unclear how much the artists of Sony Music receive for every time their music is heard on Spotify.
