Many leak news recently about new Android smartphones are showing a new phone with 4GB RAM.
Now, a recent leak suggests Asus is planning to bring another smartphones with 4GB RAM called PadFone S2 by early next year. It will be the first PadFone in over a year and it could be the first to carry the next-generation SnapDragon 820 series chip onboard.
Asus brings new level of innovation to the smartphone world when a few years ago, it first unveiled the PadFone. The innovation which slide a normal smartphone into a dock built in to larger touchscreen display, transforming it into a tablet. It could be the first notable attempt at a convertible smartphone/tablet but Asus isn’t done yet.
If leaked specs are true, PadFone S2 would be a real flagship challenger on its own. The smartphone will be the same sized screen and resolution as the LG G4, that is QHD over 5.5 inches screen. Additional 4GB RAM, 21MP main camera, 8MP front camera and 3,060 mAh battery will be built in to the phone. Still not enough, a gigantic 5,100 mAh battery and 10.1 inch screen also will be equipped to the slate unit. And at last but not least, the brand new SnapDragon 820.
Sort story of SnapDragon 820, it was originally teased by Qualcomm at MWC early this year and isn’t expected to hit the market until 2016. The new chip will use a new manufacturing process named FinFET that keeps chips smaller by stacking them in 3D arrangements. It is rumored that this year’s Nexus would be made by Huawei would feature SnapDragon 820 but typically, Huawei uses its own processors.
As for Qualcomm, it needs Snapdragon 820 to save its reputation after all over heating issues plaguing the current flagship SnapDragon 810 chip. Like HTC M9 and Sony Xperia Z3+ which received many complaints about the phone is getting too hot. Samsung and LG takes a different approach by using in-house Exynos chip for its flagship Galaxy series and SnapDragon 808 for G4.
Like the Zenfone 2 this year, next year’s PadFone could prove further that Asus is capable for building great devices at very competitive price. If it is anything like as well-received as the Zenfone 2, the new hybrid smartphone/tablet finally would makes a big impression.
