If you have heard of this phone, you might know that its announcement was made around a year ago but after that no information about it was given to the public.
The entitled the “thinnest phone with 3x optical zoom” is being launched in mid-December, but wait, there’s more! Although the phone is being released to the public, it’s being released to a very small public (if we compare it to the world smartphone market), the Asus Zenfone is being launched only in Taiwan, so if you live anywhere but Taiwan and you still want one, you’re gonna have to buy from them.
The ‘camera-phone’ is said to be equipped either with an Intel Atom Z3580 or a Z3590 chipset, 4GB of RAM and 128GB storage. The specs really reminds us of the regular Zenfone 2 (Deluxe Version). But what really pops out its the 3x optical zoom, equipped with a innovative mechanism made by Hoya which consists on extending the lens inside the phone rather than popping them out from the back, making it much more classy and doesn’t give that “old” camera look.
With the mechanism you can see below, you can achieve 13MP photos, 1080p video recording, optical image stablization and laser autofocus.
The new device will be available on the 5 major carriers available in Taiwan with the starting price of TWD 14,000 ($430/400€) for the Z3580/64GB and TWD 16,000 ($490/460€) fot the Z3590/128GB, also featuring Black, White and pink colours.
