These days, we are giving more importance to our physical well-being and to our body. Therefore, the Wearables have been increasingly their popularity, being that no brand wants to be left out of this new trend. Huawei is no exception and launched the TalkBand B1.
Many may already have heard about this Fitness Band, some must already have had a chance to try it. However, for those who have not had that opportunity, the Android Emotions team has tested the Huawei TalkBand B1 and wants to share the experience with you. So stay on this article to find out all the details and reviews.
Huawei TalkBand B1 is not very different from other fitness bands that exist on the market. This comes with an application that can be installed on your Smartphone, where you can count the number of steps, the calories lost and even the quality of your sleep. But this device is distinguished from other Fitness Bands, by acquiring TalkBand B1, will not only have the opportunity to monitor what has already been mentioned, it also have the possibility of converting it to a Bluetooth headset.
This headset is inserted into the rubber strap and whenever you need to make or receive a call you only have to pull it off of the bracelet and, when you’re done, just put it back in place.
This is an unexpected particularity which could be quite interesting and useful for those who can’t live without their daily exercise but need to always be available.
These characteristics, encompassed in this type of Wearable turn out to be perfectly functional when it could be expected some difficulty in user experience. That is, the user interaction with the TalkBand B1 is as simple as having only to press the Power button to see your evolution during an activity. But if, on the other hand, you receive a call, the information appears on the display of the B1 and, as mentioned above, you just have to remove the headset with a tap on the second button of the bracelet and answer the call. Simple, isn’t it?
But talking a little more about the Huawei TalkBand B1 hardware, this is a rubber bracelet, semi flexible, hypoallergenic, comfortable and fairly unobtrusive, that if you choose a black or gray. But if you prefer to stand out and make the B1 a fashion accessory in your daily life, you can also opt for a bright blue.
The bracelet is strapped to your wrist with a few metal pins that adapt to the existing holes in the bracelet and you can adjust it to your wrist at five different levels.
The TalkBand B1 has a curved OLED screen with 1.4 inches, but think again if you think that you will see your information with various colors or graphics. This only presents the information in an extremely simple and basic way. And no, it’s not a touch screen but, given the capabilities of TalkBand, we can consider that the touch screen is dispensable in this equipment.
To have access to information on your TalkBand B1 or just turn it off and turn it on, it has a button on the side. Here you can check the status of the Bluetooth, the hours and the battery that you have, as well as another type of information available in its interface, such as the monitoring of your workout. The second button has just release the headset function the bracelet for when you want to make a call.
As mentioned the TalkBand B1 is an extremely comfortable and lightweight bracelet to have on your wrist, so when using the B1 to analyze the stages of your sleep you can have it on your wrist overnight and it won’t be a discomfort. With the app available for this fitness band, you can control the quality and phase of your sleep, as well as set an alarm.
This alarm will not start with a beep but with a gentle vibration of the TalkBand B1, which is quite useful if you don’t want to wake up your better half. But in addition to the function to wake you up to get on time to the office, it will also alert you if you are asleep and you shouldn’t. That is, if the bracelet didn’t detect any type of activity or movement of your wrist, this will assume that you may be asleep or actually sleeping.
This is a point that in our view the Huawei may improve in this type of fitness bands. If we stand still for a period of time the bracelet assumes that we’re sleeping and some results in the statistics may not be the most reliable.
As regards to the exercise, the TalkBand B1 doesn’t make any sort of distinction between each type, so to the wearable everything is classified as walk, which is a downside for a fitness band that usually are expected to be a little more specific on this point. This is because who buys and uses this equipment intends to monitor the exercise in a more careful and detailed way. Another aspect that distinguishes this bracelet of others existent in the market is the location of the USB connection, which allows you to charge your wearable. This is located at one end and, for those who do not know the bracelet, it’s perfectly imperceptible.
The Battery life of an equipment it’s always an important point to consider at the time of the purchase. In the TalkBand B1 case, despite of having only 90mAh, this has a durability of about a week. However, the greater the use of the headset, lower is the time between rechargers.
And if you’re worried because this fitness band is only compatible with the Android operating system, Huawei took that into account and, therefore, Apple’s operating system users may also use the TalkBand B1.
Therefore, the application dedicated to this wearable, Huawei TalkBand app, can be installed on Android and iOS devices. Here you can manage and see more detailed information, which is presented with graphics.
You just have to see this application to know if you have been working correctly and regularly and if the hours that you sleep are enough. And this information concerns not only to the current day but also to other previous days, weeks or months, if you want.
If you want to invest in a fitness device which allows you to control your evolution, the TalkBand B1 may very well be one of the more balanced offerings in the market. It’s not a smartwatch but is not also a simple fitness band. And with our increasingly busy days, the headset of this Wearable is a detail that makes all the difference and that could weigh when it comes the time to choose one of these devices.
But it’s not all roses and we believe that there are two main points where this device could be better. The first concerns the evaluation of the exercise, its interpretation could be much more detailed than just walking, as well as with regard to the breaks that we do, they are always interpreted as sleeping. The other point that I want to mention is the way the information is presented, if we want to, for example, see the hours, we are forced to rotate our wrist, and this is where the simplicity and ease of use get lost a little.
However, if you want to acquire a Huawei TalkBand B1 remember that there are two sizes available on the market, so choose the one that fits your wrist. Just consult the packaging to find out what size is best suited for you.
The TalkBand B1 it’s available individually for a price of 126€ and in a pack with the Huawei Mate 7 for 544€. Have you tried this Wearable of Huawei? Leave us your feedback!
