Google has been releasing the Android 5.1 Lollipop update for some Nexus devices, since March. Meanwhile, all the Nexus devices, except for the Nexus 9, got the update to Android 5.1 and, naturally, the OEMs would also roll out the new update to their phones. Now will be HTC One M8 to get updated to Android 5.1.
HTC UK announced on Twitter that this update will be released in August 2015, and also revealed that Sense 7 UI will come with the update. What is not clear yet, is if only UK will benefit this update for now, or if it will also be available in other regions.

The Android 5.1 brings a new behavior for the ‘Wi-Fi’ and ‘Bluetooth’ tiles in Quick Settings (if you press the ‘Wi-Fi’ and ‘Bluetooth’ labels you open a list of nearby Wi-Fi networks or Bluetooth devices instead of opening the respective settings section), brings back the animation for the auto-rotate tile, a new Smart Lock feature called “On-body detection”, more animations for the Clock app, ‘Until next alarm’ option in None and Priority volume modes, separate ringtone and media volume control, besides other features.
The HTC One M8 Android 5.1 update would be released in stages, so the ETA would vary depending on your region and carrier. Priority shall be given to unlocked models and only then the carrier-locked models.
