The Gionee Marathon M5 was unveiled months ago. The device sports a massive 6,020mAh capacity of dual batteries each with 3,010mAh capacity. Even with a such a large battery it measures just 8.5mm thick and weighing 214 grams. Now a Plus variant of the smartphone will be official. According to a teaser posted by the Chinese brand, the unveiling is set for December 21.
Unfortunately, apart from the name and the date of unveiling, nothing else is known about this new variant at this point in time. However we can expect minor upgrades from the Marathon M5 but not the increased battery capacity.
For those who aren’t already aware, the Marathon M5 is powered by a MediaTek MT6735 SoC with quad-core 1.5GHz CPU, and sports a 5.5 inch (720 x 1280 pixel resolution) AMOLED display. Its selling point is the fact that it includes two 3,010mAh batteries providing a total capacity of 6,020mAh.
