Facebook has declared a new metric. They will start mesuring to improve the news feed introduced to the users. Formerly, they have used things like liking, commenting, or sharing a post to help define what were the most important stories to the users. Identifying that some stories may be interesting but don’t create any of those actions, Facebook will begin to measure the time used to view a story to improve it.
Some part of the impetus for this alteration is a inspection that Facebook has done to ask users to rate their opinion and share ideas to get the experience better. The result shows that some users find information to be very relevant, but they aren’t interested in commenting or liking it.
The company indicates the change to begin measuring, how long do users keep reading a story or comments has already begin to rollout and it will proceed for the next weeks. However, Facebook doesn’t explain how they are measurements will be different, they do show that Pages shouldn’t hope for any meaningful alterations in distribution as a result of this update.
