Remember when there were that hype about the Snapdragon 810 and when it finally launched, it was a complete fiasco? Well, the 820 isn’t walking very far from it’s brother.
The South Korean giant , Samsung, is planning to use the Snapdragon 820 on their upcoming flagship, the Galaxy S7. But not everything is what it seems, heat problems seem to be present on the new SoC, and if they cannot fix the heat issue, sources say that a “radiating pipe” will be used instead.
If, and that’s a big “if”, Samsung fixes the heat issues on the upcoming Snapdragon 820, it will be good news to Qualcomm which has struggled a bit due to the rise of inexpensive processors. A while back, Qualcomm announced that they were going to cut down their employees and cut down their capital up to 1.4 billion dollars to deal with its new financial struggle.
While Samsung is probably the first one to use the new SoC, other companies like LG and HTC will follow the same path when launching their new high-end smartphones in 2016.
