Dark guardians is a new game that has arrived in Google Play a few days ago. This game bears a resemblance of some sort with flappy bird as it is an endless runner but it definitely stands out when it comes to graphics.
There’s not much to say about Dark Guardians that you won’t see in the first few minutes of gameplay. So here it goes…you embody the character of a man whose objective is to kill every dark creature that roams into him, with a massive sword.
You start this adventure at 0 meters and it goes on until the limit displayed on the top center of the screen, which is 10000 meters.
While your character is frantically running forward all you have to do is tap the button that matches the creature of the night that is running towards you.
You will encounter 4 types of basic creatures and some bosses along your way. To kill the creatures all you need to do is hit them, no matter at what distance from the center of your target they are on. On the other hand, to defeat the bosses you have to make perfect hits, otherwise it won’t affect them and you will continue on your fight until you die, or grow tired of the game.
Still regarding gameplay there is a mode where you ride your horse to victory and don’t have to do anything while it runs as it makes perfect hits every time an enemy runs into you. This mode is achieved by making several perfect hits and increase the counter, then the horse medallion will be fully involved in fire and all you have to do is tap it.
When you lose, you will have gained a certain amount of points, those points will allow you to acquired bonuses for the next time you play. You have 3 bonuses to choose from and each of them has a different price, you can start with more health, you can start already at a predetermined number of meters or you can hit enemies while they are further from you.
You have 5 increments of the health and hit badges and 7 increments of the meters badge. At each increment the value provided by the badge increases as well as its price.
Graphics and Sound Effects
The graphics are pretty nice for a game of its kind, being that it is powered by unity this was somewhat to be expected.
The sound effects are pretty enjoyable as well and won’t make you tire of the game any faster, unlike some other games of this genre.
Leaderboards and Achievements
There are several aspects of the game that were well thought of, for example the fact that you can play in any device with your google account, and as such don’t have to start over every time you switch from your smartphone to your tablet, or vice – versa. Since scores are directly related to your google account there are scoreboards available that you can check and share with your friends.
When you open the game you also have the opportunity to share your scores on facebook, twitter or by email.
You can also earn achievements while you play and these also are linked to your google account.
All in all this is a good casual game, enjoyable to the eye and the background music is not annoying in any matter, which makes me believe that it will keep many people occupied for long periods of time.
Especially as its difficulty increases, it seems, at an exponential rate as you run along the forest.
So do yourself a favor and go get from the Play Store and enjoy it for a while.
Be aware that at this point in time the version we had in for review has a bug that does not allow us to properly close the game, we have to press the home button and then go to task manager in order to make sure it is closed. Besides that i didn’t notice any other bugs and besides the great graphics I didn’t experience a huge battery drain while playing it.
