As expected IFA has been full of surprises with lots of new releases. But if the surprises the usually arrives to the users are about the big brands, this time in Berlim there are several low cost brands that draw the attentions.
Archos it’s one of them and from what we have come to realize it seems to be able to attract the users, not only because the price but also because of its technical features and the differentiation present in this devices.
Then we will evaluate three news that were presented in the IFA showing that this brand despite the low cost devices presents several arguments to have a good number of sells.

This is most expensive device in the new Archos gamma: the Archos 10.1. The goal of this device it’s to assemble the tablet and hybrid concept searching for a keyboard inclusion that it’s powered by the tablet, that can be easily turn on and off, and this is also a case for the screen if it’s necessary.
The connection system between the keyboard and the tablet seems to be strong but however the holder doesn’t deserve the same trust, appearing to be fragile. Also in what regards to the holder Archos could be more happy because it’s a little hard to understand how to assemble this at the first time.

In the inside Archos 10.1 has a QuadCore 1.6Ghz processor, followed by a graphic processor also a QuadCore, helped by a 2Gb RAM memory. With this we can see that the processing and memory hardware are very similar to some devices of expensive brands that are being released to the market.
The screen it’s an IPS and it can be considered the most weak part of the system. However this answer in reasonable way to the multimedia demands leaving the hard work for the more expensive devices and equipped with better quality screens.
In what concerns to the connections the new Archos 10.1 counts with a WiFi Dual Band ( 2.5 and 5Ghz for a better network synchronization), WiFi Direct, Bluetooth and GPS. A device well equipped in what concerns to the evolving network connections.
In what concerns to photography the Archos 10.1 falls short. We know that this is a low cost equipment, however Archos could be more happy in this. Archos bets in two 2MP cameras: one forward and one backwards. So if for the front camera the 2MP are enough to have good quality in the video calls, in the back camera for ocasional photos we think that it’s weak.
In what concerns to the software the most enthusiasts in updates can be very happy with a 4.2 Jelly Bean operative system.
Despite some of the defaults that we present we arrive to the most interesting part: the price. And with this we can forget the defaults because with this price we think that the job made it’s very good: the Archos 10.1 should be in stores with a price of 269.99 € (this price could change depending of the store).
Archos 80 Xeon
In the new proposals for its users Archos presents in Berlim at the IFA the Archos 80 Xeon. This is a smaller model tanh the previous, and has a 8 inchs IPS screen and a QuadCore 1.2GHz processor. The difference from the Archos 10.1 it’s not just the lower speed of the processor and the screen size. This Archos 80 Xeon presents besides the WiFi connectivity a 3G connectivity.
The photographic cameras doesn’t keep up the upgrade that the Archos 80 Xeon received in whta concerns to the connectivity. So the front camera only have 0.3MP – which is very weak and it’s not good for video calls – whereas the main back camera has the same 2MP from Archos 10.1.
Like the first equipment, for the Archos 80 the price alsohelps to justify some limitations that we found. And this equipment will be in stores for 199 €.

The last the device that we are goingto talk here it’s a interesting proposal from Archos: a tablet specially dedicated for cooks that need to consult recipes for the most complicated dishes.
The Archos ChefPad has a 9.7″ screen and also has a silicone cover and a holder f3om the same material to avoid possible accidents in the kitchen.

Despite it has several applications designed specifically for the cooking segment the device can also be used for the tradicional functions, although it is a little bit short in what concerns to performance because of the Dual Core ARM Cortex processor.
The reference price for this device it’s 179 €.
