In the mobile world, Meizu may not be a big name, but judging by the sheer amount of community’s interest for the new flagship, things might be looking up for the Chinese manufacturer. The rumor has been overflowing with information about the Meizu MX5 and befor the official release, which will be at June 30, yet another set of images of the smartphone has become online. We have seen it already in several images, but generally blurry and lacking detail.
THe album features the MX5 from several angles, which shows a rounded unibody design, the camera placement or the Samsung-like elliptical home button. That reveals all the exterior, the only thing left to ponder on is the hardware. But there are actually some plentiful and extensive rumors that we might get the whole picture.
According to a benchmark page, we can be confident that the MX5 will feature a 5.5-inch FullHD display and run Android 5.0.1 out-of-the-box. Memory is set at 3GB and 16GB for onboard storage. It will be powered by Mediatek MT6795T SoC, also known as Helio X10, which results by a lot of speculation, so we can still be surprised.
The rear camera is 20.7MP, which is capable of 2160p video recording. The front shooter is a 5MP which can also record 1080p videos. The battery is 3150 mAh, which comes with a new fast charging technology – mCharge, capable of charging the Meizu MX5 from zero to 25% in 10 minutes. We have an alleged Geekbench score for the phone, about 5300 points. This smartphone is treading in Samsung Galaxy S6 territory, which, if confirmed, will compete with the current mobile titans.
About the price tag, a previous rumor puts it at ¥1,799 ($290), which hints at flagship at a middle price – the ultimate industry dream!
In the near future, a higher end Meizu MX5 Pro will be announced. It might feature a 6”QHD display, 4GB of RAM, 20MP camera, and Exynos 7420 SoC.
