In yesterday’s event, in addition to have two new Nexus smartphones, Google also showed us some other new products. One was the Android Sensor Hub which is already present in both of the new Nexus.
This is a small piece of hardware that promises to bring new features to our smartphone. Furthermore, it improves the battery life of our device. The Android Sensor Hub detects some information as well as other activities on smartphones, in order to manage the duration of the battery more economically.
This is a small sensor and a low-power processor that handles information, allowing the phone’s main processor to sleep whenever possible. But Google doesn’t have only the Android Sensor Hub, they developed two more applications, that with the sensor, will allow our smartphone to save even more battery, avoiding less pleasant situations during our day. These applications are App Standby and Doze.
The Android Sensor Hub also works with other sensors in the smartphones like the fingerprint reader, gyroscope and accelerometer. Thus, the Sensor Hub is able to interpret gestures, activities, among other functions, to keep the battery consumption as low as possible.
However, only the latest Nexus smartphone, Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P, comes with Android Sensor Hub. But don’t worry because Google said that this will be a feature that will be present in all Android devices in the future.
