The Android Lollipop 5.0 has been very popular with all its great new features. However this version it’s also known for its severe memory leak that result in app crashes and launcher redraws.
When Google announced the Android 5.1 we had hope for this issue to be fixed, but that doesn’t happen. Although Google marked the memory leak as “future release” in December, the problem remained. As it turns out though, Lollipop 5.1 is not without its own memory leak, at least for some users over at the issue tracker.
Now Google have some news for us. The 5.1 memory leak has been “fixed internally” but there is no information about the release date for this update.

This has been fixed internally. We do not currently have a timeline for public release.
It seems that we just have to wait and hope that it doesn’t take too long until this new update to come out in public.
